Originally from Orange County NY, my playing is rooted in noise rock, hardcore and experimental music. I grew up surrounded by the visual arts as both of my parents were artists. My father, Clayton H. Buchanan, studied American Impressionism with Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art in the 1960’s. I guess it’s only natural that I have a very visual attachment to sound, and this solo project really grew out of that seed. I’ve been making music in one form or fashion for the past 20 years and the visual element has always been a common creative thread, no matter what band or project I was involved in. Claymation is really a culmination of all the music, art and influences that have been, and continue to be, a part of my life.
